Santa Clara County and all of its fifteen cities have achieved their common goal to become recognized by the World Health Organization as Age-Friendly by the end of 2017 – the first county in the country to do so.

Membership to the Global Network

Already, Age Friendly Silicon Valley is proud to include 10 cities that have become part of the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Global Network of Age-Friendly Cities and Communities – Campbell, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, Milpitas, Morgan Hill, Mountain View, Palo Alto, San Jose, Santa Clara, and Saratoga.

Cities and communities in the Global Network are of different sizes and are located in different parts of the world. Their efforts to become more age-friendly take place within very diverse cultural and socio-economic contexts. What all members of the Network do have in common is the desire and commitment to creating accessible physical and inclusive social urban environments that promote healthy and active aging and a good quality of life for their older residents. They share their learnings with others and thus contribute their local experience to a global response to population aging.
